The Sword
The sword was always used during the Trojan war but was not the main weapon as some might think. The sword was close combat and was not favored unless the main weapon, the spear, was broken.
"Light infantry known as peltasts or "peltast" would carry a number of javelins used to pepper enemy formations, avoiding close combat whenever possible. The job of the peltast was not to engage in formation combat, therefor, many carried nothing more than javelins." ("Ancient Greek Military Personal Equipment.")
"The Sword was very versatile in that it could be used for cutting, striking, or thrusting. In the Odyssey, Odysseus uses a sword to kill his wife's suitors." ("Weapons At The Time Of the Odyssey.")

The Spear
"The primary weapon used by Greek troops was a two-to-three meter spear with a leaf-shaped blade at one end and a short spike at the other known as the doru." ("Ancient Greek Military Personal Equipment.")
The spear was always a necessity for every solider and every solider was commonly found with one. The spear could have been used to throw at the enemy or a close and solid jab at him.
"In the story of the Odysey, Odysseus and his son, Telemachus, use the spears to fight off his wifes suitors." ("Weapons At The Time Of the Odyssey.")

The bow and Arrow
"The Bow and Arrow was a very important weapon especially in defending ones territory. However, most heros refrained from using them because it was a long ranged weapon and killing someone from 50 or some feet would make them a coward." ("Weapons At The Time Of the Odyssey.")
The Bow and Arrow was like a specialist weapon and was not commonly found especially in the trojan war, Since most of the soliders didn't know how to use the weapon.
